Sainik Schools are English-medium residential schools, managed by the Sainik Schools Society (managed through Ministry and Defense). They prepare cadets for entry to National Defence Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and other training academies (officers). The Scheme to set up Sainik Schools started in 1961 to broad base recruitment and eliminate regional imbalance in the officer’s cadre of Defense Forces. What is the Educational Qualification under Sainik School Eligibility Criteria?

Sainik School Admission is open to all students, girls and boys are equally considered. Besides the basic criteria that must be met, there are eligibility guidelines issued by Sainik Schools for entrance purposes below:

Eligibility Criteria For 6th Class

To qualify for admission to Class VI, it’s mandatory that the candidate be between 10 and 12 years old. The new deadline is 31 March 2022 — candidates who want to enroll next academic year must have turned 10 by this date. Girls are allowed in Class VI, but the age limit is the same as boys.

Class IX is for students 

who are between 13 and 15 as of 31 March 2022. If your child has a birthdate later than April 1, 2007, a 33-month interval will need to be added to it (so they’ll need to be age 13 between March 1, 2020 and March 1, 2021). Girls apply for admission.

How to Prepare for the Sainik School Exam?

  • Every year lakhs of students appear for the Sainik School Entrance Examination in the hope of getting selected into one of the 26 Sainik Schools across India. The Sainik Schools are a system of schools established by the Ministry of Defence with the aim of preparing students for a career in the Indian Armed Forces.
  • The Sainik School Entrance Examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and is held in two rounds – an online computer-based test (CBT) and an interview. The CBT is held in January every year and consists of sections on Mathematics, Language, General Knowledge, and Intelligence. The written exam consists of two papers:

The Sainik School Entrance Exam is conducted for admission to Class 6 and Class 9. The Entrance Examination is designed to test the aptitude and abilities of the students in English, Mathematics, and Science.

The duration of the written examination will be two hours. There will be 120 objective-type questions in the question paper. The question paper will be divided into three sections viz., Section A, B, and C. Section A will have 30 questions from English, Section B will have 30 questions from Mathematics and Section C will have 60 questions from Science. All the sections are compulsory. Candidates have to attempt all the questions in each section.
